The module aims to provide knowledge on the methods of horticultural crop production. It is intended that the learning experience will indicate the range of techniques used to maximise yield, quality and shelf life of fresh produce. By the end of the module it is expected that the student will be able to • Describe the methods used in the production of a range of field crops • Explain the reasons why different approaches are required for different crops • Critically appraise the factors that dictate production techniques and discuss likely future developments • Manage and maintain a simple crop production trial.
